Over the years, Johnny Drille has been tremendously admired for his amazing singing abilities. He has been able to bless the African music ecosphere with solid releases like Halleluya featuring Simi, Romeo & Juliet, Mystery Girl, Loving is Harder, Count on You, and more.
In as much as Johnny Drille is an amazing singer, that is not all about the Mavin Records act, Johnny Drille is a highly skilled record producer and sound engineer as well. Johnny Drille has been involved in many hit records in the Nigerian music industry through recording, production, and sound engineering.
In a recent post on Twitter, Johnny Drille gave himself his well-deserved flowers, highlighting some of the popular Nigerian songs that he has mixed and mastered. Without further ado, take a look at the songs below.
Bloody Samaritan by Ayra Starr
With the afro-pop-esque nature of this song, a Johnny Drille involvement is the least of things to expect, but that isn’t the case here, the song was entirely mixed and mastered by Johnny Drille.
The song ‘Bloody Samaritan‘ was released back in 2021 and is housed under Ayra Starr’s debut album ‘19 & Dangerous‘. Its performance on charts across various countries was highly impressive and has been treated with a befitting remix featuring American veteran singer, Kelly Rowland.
Overdose (Overloading) by Mavin Records feat. Crayon, Ayra Starr, LADIPOE, Magixx & Boy Spyce
Overdose (Overloading) served as a celebratory track for Nigeria’s top record label, Mavin Records. Released back in May 2022, ‘Overdose‘ involved the label’s artists showing off their musical dexterity, from Crayon’s heart-melting entrance to Ayra Starr’s sizzling vocals, the song is a complete eargasm stimulator. Ladipoe’s display of range and Magixx’s dulcet voice is another highlight of the exciting tune. Never forgetting about Boy Spyce as well.
With production by the Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, the sound engineering process was carried out by the multi-talented Johnny Drille. Overdose (Overloading) is by all lengths, one of the biggest group sound in Africa this year.
Ijo (Laba Laba) by Crayon
After delivering like a Hebrew woman on the Johnny Drille-engineered ‘Overdose (Overloading)‘, Crayon immediately churned out a solo record titled ‘Ijo (Laba Laba)‘ and of course, the magic hands of Johnny Drille was employed.
The is was produced by high-profile beatmaker, Sarz.
Big Energy by Ladipoe
Big Energy is the latest offering from Mavin Record rapper, Ladipoe. Produced by Killertunes, it serves as a follow-up to his 2021 extended play, Providence.
And yes, the song is mixed and mastered by Johnny Drille.
Rush by Ayra Starr
One of the hottest songs in Nigeria at the moment ‘Rush‘ by Ayra Starr also got its engineering from the hands of Johnny Drille. According to Turntable Top 100, Rush is the number-one song in Nigeria at the moment.
Rush was released back in September and is housed under the deluxe edition of Ayra Starr’s debut album, 19 & Dangerous.
