Afrobeats is one of the world’s fastest-growing genres of music. After decades since its formulation, the champions of the genre are consistently serving it to the world.
The past few years have been phenomenal for Afrobeats, marking an important crossover moment in the history of the genre. We’ve been blessed enough to witness its frontline artists get Grammy wins and nominations, platinum and gold certifications in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and concerts held in major cities of the world. Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido have sold-out arenas in major cities like New York, London, Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Geneva, etc.
The just concluded week had a lot of decent Afrobeats offerings like Ayra Starr and Zinoleesky coming together to serve the impressive tune ‘Lonely Refix’, FAVE returning with a new single ‘Scatta Scatta’, and the likes of Young Jonn, Reekado Banks, and Teni also had something to offer. Without further ado, check out some of the best new Afrobeats records released over the weekend.
Lonely Refix – Ayra Starr & Zinoleesky
Ayra Starr has delivered the deluxe edition of her acclaimed debut album 19 & Dangerous and it came along with some new feel-good tunes. The refixed version of her impressive tune ‘Lonely‘ now featuring Zinoleesky is one of the six new tracks added to the deluxe edition of the album.
Serving as the 6th track on the album, Lonely (Refix) carries the sultry vocals of Marlian Music artist, Zinoleesky. The song is quite emotional as both singers sing about loneliness and neglect by a lover.
The song is co-produced by Loudaaa and Niphkeys.
Scatta Scatta – FAVE

As regards production credit, her frequent collaborator, Damie did a commendable job.
If You Leave – Young Jonn
Young Jonn’s transition from a beatmaker to a singer is one of the smoothest Nigerian music industry transitions in recent years. Thanks to his new imprint Chocolate City, Young Jonn has matured into not just a singer but also a good songwriter.
His astronomic growth is evident in his latest extended play, the sequel of his Love Is Not Enough series. Consisting of six tracks including the previously released Xtra Cool and Dada (Remix) featuring Davido, If You Leave is one of the best new songs on the project.
The song is co-produced by Reward Beatz and Young Jonn himself.
Jeun To Da (JTD) – Reekado Banks
After a 7-month-long hiatus, Reekado Banks returns to the music scene. This time he came along with a new single dubbed, Jeun To Da (JTD). The track dwells on the topic of hope and easy life, reassuring listeners to go easy on life.
Jeun To Da (JTD) serves as Reekado Banks’ second offering for the year, following the release of the much-enjoyed Ozumba Mbadiwe Remix EP featuring Fireboy DML, KiDi, Rayvanny, Lady Du, and Elow’n.
Trouble – Teni
Nigerian singer-songwriter, Teni has rendered a new single through the COLORS stage, delivering a lustful performance of her new single ‘Trouble’.
Trouble is a love song dedicated to an undisclosed individual, the track sets Teni’s relatable, catchy vocals against a lively beat that is sure to get feet tapping.
