Nigeria will be the destination for hosting the African premiere of Marvel Studios’ latest production, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as announced by The Walt Disney Company in collaboration with FilmOne Entertainment and Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a sequel to its 2018 prequel, Black Panther which recorded the 5th biggest opening of all time with $202 million, only behind The Avengers ($207 million), Jurassic World ($208 million), Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($220 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248 million).

The highly anticipated movie, fresh off the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be premiered in Lagos, Nigeria in early November, just before its theatrical release across the globe on the 11th day of November.

In the words of Moses Babatope and Kene Okwuosa, the co-founders of FilmOne Entertainment and the official distributors of the movie in English West African territories, “Being instrumental to the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in West Africa is a proud achievement and a milestone for us and the entire FilmOne team, it will be celebrated for a long time. We are excited and fully committed to working with The Walt Disney Company to deliver a grand African premiere, even as we channel all our arsenal towards realizing a momentous box-office performance for the title.”

The founder of AFRIFF, Chioma Ude also has this to say: “We are excited and proud to be a part of the premiere of this milestone film here in Africa. This is huge for the continent of Africa as it symbolises to us further bridging the gaps between the global film industries.”

Earlier on, Nigerian songstress, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems featured on the official soundtrack of the movie, the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever prologue EP‘ leading the pack with the first track, a cover of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry‘ alongside Ghanaian singer, Amaarae and Mexican artist, Santa Fe Klan on the second and third track respectively.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be available in cinemas across the globe on the 11th day of November 2022.
