Afrobeats is one of the world’s fastest-growing genres of music. After over two decades since its formulation, the champions of the genre are finally receiving their flowers.
The past few years have been phenomenal for Afrobeats, marking an important crossover moment in the history of the genre. We’ve been blessed enough to witness its frontline artists get Grammy wins and nominations, platinum and gold certifications in the United States, Canada and Europe, and concerts held in major cities of the world. Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido have sold-out arenas in major cities like New York, London, Paris, Dublin, Amsterdam, Geneva etc.
We’ve had a good number of mellifluous Afrobeats records released this month and the just-concluded weekend is not an exception. Over the weekend, our playlists were blessed with a lot of new music. Consisting of new music from Nigeria, these are the best new Afrobeats songs you should listen to.

With Love Nwantiti breaking several records, including being the most streamed African song globally on Spotify, and Emiliana once garnering over 700 thousand streams in a single day on Spotify, CKay has released a new single titled ‘WATAWI.’
On the new single, CKay teams up with Davido, Focalistic, and Abidoza. WATAWI is another opportunity for CKay to capture the ears and hearts of his fans around the world. It is CKay’s second offering for the year, a follow-up to his previous release ‘Maria‘ featuring Silly Walks Discotheque.
Asake – Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)
YBNL singer-songwriter Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake has released a new single titled ‘Peace Be Unto You (PBUY).‘ Co-written by his label boss Olamide, PBUY serves as the singer’s third output for the year as a lead artist, following the release of Sungba Remix, and his debut extended play dubbed Ololade Asake which housed the likes of Omo Ope, Sungba, Baba God etc.
Although fans on social media have pointed out that Peace Be Unto You (PBUY) sounds strikingly similar to his previous release Palazzo, I honestly think it’s a beautiful tune.
Chris Brown – Call Me Everyday feat. Wizkid
Chris Brown’s love for Afrobeats has been evident over the last few years, we’ve perceived it in his collaboration with Lojay and Sarz on Monalisa Remix, with Rema on Time N Affection, with Ajo Jay on Number One Love Remix, with Davido on Blow My Mind, with Wizkid on African Bad Girl and now, Call Me Everday. The singer’s ability to switch between different genres is on another level, no wonder he’s been regarded as one of the most talented men on the planet.
In anticipation of the release of his eponymous and 10th studio album ‘Breezy,’ Chris Brown delivers one of the records on the album, an Afrobeats-inspired track dubbed Call Me Everyday featuring one of Nigeria’s biggest artists, Wizkid. Just like their previous collaboration on ‘African Bad Girl,’ the synergy between both singers on the new single can barely be justified with words.
Co-produced by DJ Tunez, Blaise Beatz, and Leon Youngblood, the Afrobeats-infused single is the third official offering from Chris Brown this year, a follow-up to his previous singles ‘WE (Warm Embrace),’ released back in April, and ‘Iffy,’ released back in January.
