Barack Obama unveils his favorite songs of 2022: Beyonce, Bad Bunny, Burna Boy & more

Former president of the United States of America, Barack Obama has cultivated the habit of sharing his favorite songs year after year and this year’s list might just be his most diverse yet.

Dubbed Barack Obama’s Favorite Music of 2022, the 25-track list showcases the former president’s listening habits over the last 12 months with a mixture of Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats, Reggaeton, Pop, and more.

The list includes some of this year’s biggest hits, including Lizzo’s About Damn Time, Kendrick Lamar’s The Heart Part 5, and Beyonce’s Break My Soul; the lead single off her 7th studio album, Renaissance. The diversity in Obama’s listening habits is obvious with the inclusion of Reggaeton and Latino Urbano songs like Bad Bunny’s super hit – Tití Me Preguntó and Rosalia’s Saoko.

As Afrobeats keeps penetrating different angles of the globe, Obama isn’t making a list without including it. Hits like Rema’s Calm Down, Burna Boy’s Last Last, and Ayra Starr Rush made the cut. it is no news that Obama has been enjoying the genre as he has included it in his previous lists.

Other songs on the list include SZA’s Shirt, Koffee’s Pull Up, Steve Lacy’s Sunshine with Fousheé, Ari Lennox’s POF, Ethen Cain’s American Teenager, Plains’ Problem With It, Omar Apollo’s Tamagotchi, Maggie Rodger’s That’s Where I Am, Sudan Archives’ Home Maker, Xavier Omär’s Feelings 4 U, Leyla McCalla’s Dodinin, Danger Mouse & Black Thought’s Belize with MF DOOM, Tank and The Bangas Communion In My Cup with The Ton3s, Zach Bryan’s Something In The Orange, SIR’s Life Is Good with Scribz Riley, Adam Blackstone & Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Round Midnight, and NxWorries’ Where I Go with H.E.R.

On making the announcement, Barack Obama took to his Twitter page where he posted the list alongside a caption that reads: “I always enjoy sharing my end of year music playlist with all of you — and this year we heard a lot of great songs. Here are some of my favorites. Are there any songs or artists I should check out?

Barack Obama is no stranger to putting a list of his favorite songs together, the former U.S. president has been doing it for years and has received positive reviews from his followers. Last year’s edition featured 27 songs compared to this year’s 25, thereby making a more concise list. The playlist is available on Spotify.
