The Grammy-winning singer made the announcement during his sold-out concert at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Yesterday, Burna Boy set a new record by becoming the first-ever African music artiste to headline a sold-out concert at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. During the show, the singer-songwriter unveiled the title and release date of his forthcoming album. Titled “Love, Damini,” Burna Boy confirmed July 2nd as the release date which also doubles as his birthday.
In anticipation of the new album, Burna Boy previewed a new song off the project during the show and the audience couldn’t conceal their excitement. As clips of the performance keep disseminating on social media, it has been met with exhilaration and anticipation from music fans.
Love, Damini will serve as Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, a follow-up to the Grammy-winning ‘Twice As Tall‘ LP released just about two years ago, which earned his highest placement on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at No. 54 on the list. Since the rollout of his previous album in 2020, Burna Boy has released singles like “Question” featuring Don Jazzy, “Want It All” featuring Polo G and “B. d.Or” featuring Wizkid.
In recent years, Burna Boy’s growth has been drastic, he has gained global success beyond the shores of Africa, with a Grammy to his name, two gold certifications in the United States and songs charting in Europe and South America, the singer has been on a roll. In addition to the sold-out concert at the Madison Square Garden, Burna Boy has also headlined concerts at Accor Arena in Paris, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, 3Arena in Dublin, Wembley Arena in London, SEG Geneva Arena in Arena, Hovet Arena in Stockholm, 02 Arena in London, Partille Arena in Partille, Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt amongst many others.
Next month, Burna Boy will be performing at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on the 15th day of May at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, cementing himself as the first Nigerian artist to perform on the prestigious stage. He will perform alongside Megan Thee Stallion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Latto, Rauw Alejandro and Diddy as the host.
