The foremost Nigerian record label commemorates its 10 year anniversary with a Don Jazzy-produced feel-good tune tagged ‘Overdose’.
Mavin Records is one of, if not the biggest African-owned record labels. Led by high-profile music producer and businessman, Don Jazzy, the label has been at the forefront of African music for many years. Mavin Records is known for producing stars over the years, they’ve housed the likes of Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’Prince, Iyanya, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Rema, and Ladipoe, amongst many others. Today, the label has unlocked a new feat, marking 10 years of its existence in the music industry.
Unveiling a list of activities to mark the historic moment, the label, led by some of its finest artists, has released a new single titled ‘Overdose‘ featuring Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Magixx, and Boy Spyce. Since the inception days of the label, it has been a usual tradition, they’ve previously rolled out some of the hottest bangers in the African music sphere which includes songs like ‘Dorobucci‘ and ‘Adaobi‘. The last time we had an all-Mavin song was back in 2019 when Don Jazzy and Rema led the pack on the mellifluous tune ‘All Is In Order‘ alongside Korede Bello, Crayon, and DNA.
On ‘Overdose‘, involved artists show off their musical dexterity, from Crayon’s heart-melting entrance to Ayra Starr’s sizzling vocals, the song is a complete eargasm stimulator. Ladipoe’s display of range and Magixx’s dulcet voice is another highlight of the exciting tune. Never forgetting about Boy Spyce as well, the label’s latest signee, he came correct, delivered like a Hebrew woman, became the perfect means of the record’s outro.
The song is complemented with a colourful music video, directed by Director K. Listen here.
