Goya Menor and Nektunez are refusing to rest on their laurels, unveiling a stunning, fresh music video for their world-conquering collaborative single ‘Ameno Amapiano Remix (You Wanna Bamba)’, out now on B1 / Ministry of Sound.
Pushing the rapidly-growing genre into bold and exciting new territories, ‘Ameno Amapiano Remix (You Wanna Bamba)’ initially went viral in December and less than two months later, it’s enjoyed over 5 million daily YouTube views, over 10 million streams on Spotify and hit #2 on the global Shazam charts amongst its long list of laudable stats, as well as making it onto the A-list on BBC Radio 1Xtra where it’s been on hourly rotation.
The hype was triggered on TikTok, where the remix has inspired more than 3 million creations that collectively have been watched an astonishing 10 Billion times on the platform. Such is its virality, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Manchester United and France footballer Paul Pogba and NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal have all joined in on the Ameno Challenge, following the Kalin Brothers original post in December. It’s long overdue that the official video for the viral hit track is released and finally gets its masterminds Goya Menor and Nektunez together in front of the camera. When the Kalin Brothers agreed to fly out to Lagos to be part of the production, the official video shoot turned into a full circle moment for everyone.
Directed by renowned filmmaker Moe Musa who has worked with the likes of Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, the all-new visual nods to the original video made by Goya and the anti-cultism iconography. Shot in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, the video introduces the artists who have become world-famous overnight in stunning mystical settings. Along the way, a misunderstanding is cleared up: lines like “You want to bamba – you wanna chill with the big boys” are not party talk, but Goya’s warning to the youth not to lose themselves in religious cults and other seductions – supported by cameos by the TikTok brothers and haunting performances by the 26-year-old sociology graduate, who is also known in his home country as singer Bright Goya.
Born in Benin City, Nigeria, Goya Menor is an Afro-Fusion artist who had been doing his thing in the underground for a long time before breaking through with ‘Ameno Amapiano Remix (You Wanna Bamba)’. A promising artist, Goya comes armed with energy, diversity and above all hype and vibes.
Nektunez, also known as the mastermind behind the infectious production, is a US-based Ghanaian producer, singer, songwriter and composer who has spent years honing his signature sound while studying politics. Having recently signed a deal with B1 Recordings, he says: “It was always my dream to work with Sony – especially with someone like Wolfgang Boss, who helped Kygo, among others, to break through, one of my musical idols. I’m looking forward to an exciting journey and sharing my music with the world.”
With the brand new video for the Ameno Amapiano (Remix), the track shows little signs of slowing down on its current path to world domination.
