• Fantasia Barrino-Taylor: The actress who played the role of “Celie Johnson” in the film “The Color Purple” was nominated in the category for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

• Colman Domingo: Colman Domingo was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama for the film “Rustin”. He played the role of “Bayard Rustin” who is a queer civil rights activist.

• Danielle Brooks: For the role of “Sofia” in the film “The Color Purple” Daniella Brooks got nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture.

• Quinta Brunson: Quinta Brunson who played the lead role as “Janine Teague in “Abbott Elementary,” was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy.

• Wanda Sykes. The Netflix special “I’m an Entertainer” saw Wanda Sykes nominated for Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television.

• David Oyelowo: The actor who played a lead role in “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” got nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television.

• Chris Rock: For his comedy special “Selective Outrage,” Chris Rock was nominated for Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television.
